Our Story

Cha Dodo is a journey rooted in a lifelong passion for tea. From a young age, Cha Dodo's founder, Jean-Pierre, was inspired by the teas his sister Fleur would bring back from her travels with her dance groups. Each new variety sparked curiosity and a growing desire to explore the world of tea. This fascination with the little leaves has, over the years and many gifts of tea later, grown into a deep love of the culture and craft of the teas themselves, which led Jean-Pierre to formally train as a Tea Sommelier.

By June 2023, Jean-Pierre attained the Level 2 Tea Sommelier with the UK Tea Academy - a milestone that honed the expertise behind Cha Dodo. Such an achievement could not be realised without the guidance and support of UKTA tutors, for which Jean-Pierre is deeply grateful as he embarks on earning his certification as a Master of Tea.

At Cha Dodo, we believe in the artistry of tea - from the finest blend to the rituals surrounding them. We also believe that tea has the capacity to unite people, give rise to relationships, and create some magic moments of joy. Such a belief is deeply influenced by the voyages of Jean-Pierre-from sipping traditional mint tea in the busy souk of Marrakech to visiting the Bois Cheri tea garden of Mauritius, a tropical paradise and his mother's homeland, where the now-extinct Dodo bird originally came from. His travels have also led him to the Uji and Gion teahouses in Kyoto, where he started with Chado, the way of tea, and the artistry in Japan's most sacred teas.
