Ceylon Artisanal Tea Association (CATA)
About The Ceylon Artisanal Tea Association (CATA)
The Ceylon Artisanal Tea Association (CATA) puts together small-scale tea gardens of the Kandy, Ruhunu, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva regions to craft extraordinary teas that do some good in the world.
Founded by seven artisanal producers, CATA is committed to uplifting communities, protecting the environment, and sharing Sri Lanka's tea heritage with the world.
Supporting People
CATA ensures that everyone in the value chain involved in making their teas benefits by sharing at least 2.5% of tea revenues with workers. Fair wages, training opportunities, and benefits such as subsidised meals and housing are some of the added advantages. It's all about women, rural communities, and the planet-first approach.
Caring for the Planet
From eco-friendly packaging to sustainable farming practices, CATA's members lead the industry with responsibility: they minimize waste, conserve resources, and protect biodiversity so that their teas leave a positive impact on the environment.
A Collective Mission
Not being for profit, CATA supports its members in sharing knowledge and best practices, solving challenges, and jointly promoting their teas. It organizes tea experiences, tours, and webinars as activities to reach out and uplift Sri Lanka's artisanal teas globally.
Every sip of CATA's teas celebrates craftsmanship, community, and care for the world we share.
